Beautiful illustrations by Julia Denos

I'm a huge fan of Julia Denos' gorgeous illustrations. To me they are just perfect and should all be hanging on my living room wall. Julia draws very pretty girls among other things, but I especially love her Audrey Hepburn illustrations in the wonderful book Just Being Audrey. I hope someone buys it for me for my birthday! I love Audrey and Julia depicts her perfectly. See more on Julia's site here.

My New Favorite Sketchbook: Fashionary!

As some of you may know, I work for an online game where I, among other things, design clothes for our characters, making me basically a digital fashion designer. I love designing clothes and I make tons of sketches every week when making our collections. This brings me to the wonder of my recent discovery: Fashionary! It's a sketchbook for fashion designers and illustrators and it's absolutely amazing. It has lots of info on garments, measurements, proportions etc. but best of all it has faded figure outlines on every page. This makes it soooo easy to design consistent outfits and items, and the outlines are so thin that you can draw other things on the pages without them messing up your sketches. It's simple and easy and I just can't seem to put it down. You can either get a version with female figures or with men. I'd highly recommend Fashionary if fashion drawing is something you love like I do!

Monster Update

It's been a while since I've posted. I've just had so much to do and been so busy with work. But there's lots to share so I'll just go right ahead.

First of all we've updated our website at work with a new front page design. I have a new design partner, Michal Bendtsen, who's very cool and good at game design. He and I are making a lot of changes for Moviestar Planet so hopefully it'll start looking much better than before. We're also working on a lot of other new things that I'll post in the future. This is the new front page design:

Besides work I haven't had much time to be creative but I did succeed in making some crazy sketches with my boyfriend one night. I'll add them later on. I also tried drawing David Bowie for my kid sister but the results were pretty awful. I have to really remind myself not to quit when I make something that looks like crap. I have to learn from my mistakes and I can't do that if I hide my work away and don't get feedback. So well, here's Bowie made in pencil, watercolor and photoshop sketching:

I've also been playing around with a new photo editing program that I just got my hands on. The results are really good. I'll write more about that later as well. I'll try to update more often when I have more energy. Work takes up a lot of my time, not only during the day but also when I'm off. I just can't seem to let it go. Anyway, here are some of my photos, one of New York and another of Paris. I'll update more soon.

A little something every day

So, I'm going to jump on board with the whole "create something every day" trend. A lot of people are doing it to stay creative and to help them think out of the box. It isn't so much about the quality of the work but more about being active. You can read more about this on the Inspiration Lab blog. I really enjoy the work of British artist Chloe Cumming. She regularly posts some of her very weird but wonderful sketches on her blog for all to enjoy. He style is very expressive and strange and I always feel like I'm being sucked into her drawings, that they tell a secret story that I have to decipher. She also offers some good advice to aspiring artists and illustrators, and lets face it, we can always use advice from professional and talented people like Chloe.
